Minnesota Museum of American Art Visitors Guide - St. Paul, Minnesota
The Minnesota Museum of American Art celebrates the work of American artists from the mid-19th century through contemporary times, with an emphasis on Minnesota and regional art. Among the artists represented in the holdings of the Minnesota Museum of Art are Thomas Hart Benton, Childe Hassam and Louise Nevelson. In addition to displays from its permanent collection, the Minnesota Museum of American Art offers several special exhibitions every year. On the first Friday of each month, the Minnesota Museum of Art hosts ART HERE, an evening devoted to live music, art and cocktails.
The Minnesota Museum of American Art is a unique attraction in the Bloomington and Minneapolis-St. Paul areas as it is. Not only is it the sole art museum located in St. Paul, it's also the only one of the museums in the area that focuses exclusively on American art. The Minnesota Museum of Art moved to its current riverfront gallery in 2004.
